Dragon's Blood & Sage Smudge Stick
Dragon's Blood & Sage Smudge Stick
A wonderful blending of Blue Sage and Dragons Blood resin mingling two of the most popular essences within magickal practice into a powerful ritual tool. This smudge stick is approximately 4 inches long. It is one of my favorite smudge sticks because its energy is potent. This smudge stick has been cleansed, and charged with positive intentions.
Blue Sage also known as "Grandmother Sage” is a purifying herb with broad medicinal and magical applications. A close relative of White Sage, Blue Sage is also good for healing and cleansing rituals. Its soothing, relaxing smell can be used to aid meditation, or burned simply for enjoyment.
Dragon’s blood is a dark red resin from the rattan palm tree. Southeast Asia is its native origin and it’s used for treating wounds and healing intestinal disorders. It can be burned to enhance productivity and is therefore great to use in your office space. This resin creates a lovely “mood” in the atmosphere along with emitting a heavenly fragrance.

History:
Sage Smudge Sticks have been used in the Native American Indian traditions for many generations to purify an area from negative energies. Used as part of the many ceremonies, the smudge stick plays the part of the purifier, cleanser and agreement of intent to nature. Sage as an herb and incense has also been used in many other cultures, who also agreed that the herb has magical purifying, and clearing abilities. In addition earth workers also use sage as part of a benevolent working as sage is also reputed to encourage a wealth of positive energy to flow. Today sage is one of the tools of choice for many light workers during healing both before and after a healing session. The Smudge stick can be used to cleanse a person, an area or your crystals.
This is not to be confused with Saining which is the Celtic form of consecration by using herbal smoke. Although, you can use this stick to consecrate amulets, talismans and altar tools, Saining and Smudging are two different forms of ritual practice.
How to Use Your Smudge:
First open a window or door to your home, not just for ventilation but to allow negative energies to leave through that opening. Light the wand and smoke all around your body to cleanse and purify yourself. This is done before ritual or spell casting. To clear the home, light the sage wand and begin in the eastern corner of your house, moving in a counterclockwise direction, making sure to smudge each corner of your space. When you are banishing negative energies, you always want to smudge in a counterclockwise direction. When you are ready to welcome peace, love and good positive energies into your space, move your sage wand in a clockwise direction and bring all that good energy in! Extinguish your wand in an abalone shell or smudge pot after use.
Fire Safety:
Since you are burning things, be sure to use a fire-safe cauldron or other device. Putting sand in the bottom is a good idea. Also be aware of flammables nearby. Cloth underneath, or in a dangling sleeve, for example, can ignite from the heat.
If smudging indoors, excessive smoke will set off a smoke detector. If smudging outdoors, be very careful in the dry season. A grass fire or forest fire is too much smudge for anyone!
Be aware that sparks do fall off, and can burn clothing, altar cloths, floors, etc. So use with caution.
