Why choose British Columbia's Nephrite Jade:

Nephrite Jade from British Columbia, Canada, is celebrated as a superior Jade due to its exceptional quality and ethical mining practices. This region is renowned for producing some of the world's finest Nephrite Jade, characterized by its rich, deep green color, impressive translucency, and remarkable toughness. These qualities make it highly sought after for both jewelry and intricate carvings.

Moreover, British Columbia's Nephrite Jade stands out for its ethical mining practices, ensuring minimal environmental impact and fair labor conditions. Unlike some sources of Chinese Jade, where concerns about sustainability and worker exploitation may arise, Canadian Jade mining is regulated by stringent environmental and safety standards. This commitment to ethical practices ensures that each piece of Nephrite Jade from British Columbia is not only beautiful but also responsibly sourced, providing peace of mind to consumers who value both quality and integrity in their gemstones.

Grading Scale:
Nephrite Jade is graded on translucency, iron inclusions, color and fractures. We source our Nephrite Jade based on its grade. This Nephrite Jade is a Grade A.
Jade is graded on a detailed scale that considers color, translucency, texture, the presence of iron inclusions, and fractures.

Here's a breakdown of the Jade grading scale:

Grade AAA: This is the highest quality, considered high gem quality, with exceptional color, translucency, no inclusions, and no fractures. It is extremely rare and highly valued for fine jewelry and investment pieces.

Grade AA: This grade is also of high gem quality, showcasing excellent color and translucency with minimal inclusions and minimal fractures It is slightly more common than AAA but still highly prized.

Grade A: This is the grade we choose at Purple Door Alchemy. This is prized for smaller carvings, and jewelry due to its deep color, translucency and minimal inclusions. This grade contains more fractures than the higher grades.

Grade B: This jade has good color and translucency but includes more noticeable iron inclusions and fractures, affecting its value and aesthetic compared to higher grades.

Grade C: With lower color quality and translucency, this grade appears more opaque and includes more significant inclusions and fractures. It is less desirable for high-end applications.

Grade D: The lowest quality, Grade D jade has poor color and translucency with numerous inclusions and fractures, typically used for low-end jewelry or decorative items.

Purple Door Alchemy exclusively selects Grade A Nephrite Jade. This choice ensures minimal iron inclusion, stunning translucency, and a rich, deep color, making it perfect for inlaying. While we don't use grades AAA or AA because they are typically reserved for high gem-quality applications due to its minimal fractures, we feel that grade A is the best choice for crushing purposes. As a result, this allows us to keep costs low.

Unlike competitors who may inflate values with potentially misleading grading, we maintain strict ethics. Misrepresenting materials can breach trust, so we abstain from assigning grades to ensure authenticity.

We source minerals from reputable suppliers and use expert gemologists for precise grading, ensuring quality and transparency. Our commitment to ethical standards ensures customers invest in responsibly sourced gems with confidence.
